My Jetta takes at least 20 minutes for the A/C to get cold. The most practical solution I can think of is to replace the compressor solenoid and possibly the compressor with it. Does anyone have any experience doing this replacement? or am I even in the right ball park?

Hey everyone, I have a 2000 Jetta that doesn't blow cold AC. I would classify myself as a beginner when it comes to car repair and wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on this. Here are the details: - When the AC is turned on, air does blow through the vents. Each setting (1-4) does blow...

My A/C works on setting 1 but the compressor turns off on settings 2, 3, 4. The fan (air blows at all speeds) works on all settings... its the A/C compressor that turns off in the last three settings. Switch was replaced once. Not sure if it is the blower motor resistor or something else...
  8. VW Jetta MKIII 1991–1998
So since my AC on my 97 Jetta GT 2.0 decided it was not going to work anymore this year, i figured that since it was getting kinda hot i would go and see how much my mechanic (works on stuff i don't wanna or that i don't have experience with) was going to charge me to get it working. $1233 was...
  9. VW Jetta MKIII 1991–1998
Hey, I have a 1996 2.0L that doesn't have air. The AC compressor recently locked up on me, and the car has not been drivable. I went into napa to see how much it would be for the part to bypass it, it's 50 dollars >_>... so I decided I would just run a belt, but being professionals at selling...
