Tranny problem
Im having the same issue. I just purchased my first jetta, a 1999.5 2.0 w/ auto trans. Just feels like it takes too long to go into drive. My first thought was to add transmission fluid, but its a enclosed system that only volkswagen can service; or so they say. I have a lift, so I found a cap made a funnell, and added the fluid anyway. NOTE you will have to go to VW to get the fluid, roughly $20/liter. It didnt fix my issue, now Im worried that i may have to much fluid in the trans and im worried about blowing the seals in the trasmission itself. I spoke with a master tech for vw and he said to start the car, when the oil pan for the transmission reaches 35 celcius crack open the drain plug on the bottom of the transmission and the apporpriate amount would come out.
I would love it if anyone wants to clarify that.
