Hello,
I bought a 2008 jetta and im having some issues with the car. For one, there is no memory in the dash... the clock keeps resetting to 12:00 every time I turn the car off. The RPM gauge is also messed up... if I rev the engine to say 3000 rpm and quickly turn the car off, the gauge will stay at 3000 until the engine is started back up. The engine temperature gauge is also acting up; it starts out in the middle and then goes down. Any idea what could be wrong with the car? Is there some memory circuit or something that should be looked at?
Thanks
NK

Was it in an accident? If so, insurance?

LOL...this thread = fail.

Unless somebody put an aftermarket battery kill switch on the vehicle, this should not be happening. OR, someone rewired your cluster to ignition power instead of power all the time.

I totally disagree with the dealer, call the VW custormer service headquarters and tell them that electronic problems has nothing to do with accidents. YOU ARE LOOKING AT BIG BUCKS. VW will stand behind the warranty. Forget the dealer, to straight to the main office, And if they don't provide help, call Consumer affairs.

Seconded. If the car hasn't been in an accident, then that means this is a manufacturing defect and VW has to honor their warranty. If you go back to the same dealer, I'd say give them another chance to step up and honor the warranty. If not, find the general manager or owner, and give them the chance to honor the warranty or else you go to VWOA and raise a little hell. THing I'd be worried about is that, if the dealership tried to brush you off, and then tried to get you to pay for a warranty problem, are they going to bother to try and do quality work to make the repairs and ensure your car isn't damaged in the shop?
