I have a 97 jetta glx vr6
the heater doesnt work, i put it to full heat, same temp.
I know youre saying 'heater core!' but no steam comes out, windows dont fog up, no coolant spraying my passengers legs...
anything else it could be?

Does your car come up to normal operating temp?

Yes it stays right in the middle of the range

how does your coolant look?

Possible that you might have a clog

Are the coolant lines connected to the heater core? Wish I had a nickle for every bypassed heater core I've seen.

I'll get you some, but you won't need em. On the MkIII, look at the firewall behind the engine there should be two coolant lines (approx 1 1/4" black hose) going into the firewall high and just a bit right of center as your looking at it. If you see two metalic pipes sticking out without hoses attached then the coil is bypassed. Let me no if you still need pics and I'll take some.

do these cars use vaccuum lines to activate the heater? on my supra i just rerouted a couple lines to the actuator and presto i had heat

Yeah, the heater core was completely bypassed...
