my jetta had a plume of black smoke come out of it when I was driving it and I think it might be a problem with the head gasket. If it iss a head gasket problem the I was wondering if anyone knew how much it would cost to fix in us dollars?????????????

if you cant do it yourself your lookin at a few hundred dollars. You can do a compression check to be sure, as its not hard at all to do.

I replaced the head gasket on my 96 for about 40 bucks i just went to autozone got a felpro gasket and i was done. hears the part number and cost.

my 96 is over heating bad, when ever i stop at a light i can watch the temp gage rise. also my oil light and alarm are going off too, got some oil in my engine coolent, so im not to sure but im assumeing its the head gasket, anyone got any advice, or know what i should do?

If you have oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil you need to get it torn appart. You either have a headgasket out or a cracked head. If your tearin it appart you may as well have a machine shop surface the head for piece of mind, just ask them to check it for cracks and suck check it.

i did my own head on my 94 jetta . i paid $40.00 for the head gasket,$40.00 on head bolts, and $25.00 to cut the head. and yes you will need new head bolts.anything else hit me up.
