Alright guys lets get some opinions together. Trying to get the car to pass inspection (i know a guy) so all it needs in no check engine light. I have error codes P0422 and P0134 is pending. I reset the light and got P0422 again and P0133 both were pending this time (maybe i didint drive long enough) Replace the pre CAT O2 sensor? Will i still get P0422 or was is because of the bad sensor? The catalytic converter might be clogged but i dont know. If thats the case and im as cheap as i am should i chip it so i dont need to run the cat? Im used to working on old trucks with no cat and no computer so bare with me! 1998 GLX VR6 with OBD2 Thanks for all help i get! Oh and im considering chipping it because i also had secondary air injection pump issues from time to time and that will remedy that.

I would replace the precat o2 sensor.

$50 bucks on Amazon. Same one i installed in mine.

If you want to pass smog without replacing the cat, if it's clogged. Hollow out the cat or put in a straight piece, then get an o2 spacer which will trick the ECU and you wont have any more annoying CEL.

It would go on the post cat o2 sensor.
