My Jetta takes at least 20 minutes for the A/C to get cold. The most practical solution I can think of is to replace the compressor solenoid and possibly the compressor with it. Does anyone have any experience doing this replacement? or am I even in the right ball park?
If it gets nice and cold but just takes forever to finally get cold or if it cycles nice cold air then all of a sudden warm, then repeats that... its your solenoid. They are about 20$ on amazon. Mine went from taking about 5-10min to blow cold air to ice cold air before I back out of a parking spot.
Drain the system, replace the switch. They are held in by either one bolt or a c-clip. Then vac the system down and put your cans of 134a on a weight scale. Put the proper amount back in and boom your good to go.
