My wife has a 2007 VW Jetta, 2.5L wolfberg edition (if that matters). She was on the freeway on had to slam on her brakes. After she slammed on her brakes, the ABS and traction control lights came on.

I have read a few threads on this forum stating that it may be the ABS(wheel speed sensors). to my knowledge there is one on each wheel.

I bought a Vag-com connector and downloaded VCDS lite to try to see which sensor is bad(if any). I can connect to the car but just not the ABS controller. Is the ABS controller module bad? Also read that it could be a faulty MAF sensor?

Any help with troubleshooting this issue or even the VCDS issue would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jus-D

That's normal. They turn on to let you know what's going on. When i spin my tires and traction control is on, it will flash to let me know it's engaged. Same with ABS when you lock your wheels.

If the light is solid, then something is wrong.

I should've clarified. The lights are solid . They are still on. Additionally I inspected the fuses associated with the ABS

If both lights are solid, then it's possible some wires were disconnected or the sensors somehow got dirty at the same time. I would start with checking the wiring and sensors for each wheel and see if anything looks out of place. I'm also not sure if there is a relay for the abs and traction control, if everything seems to check out.

Both my lights came on during winter because my chains somehow caught the wires and did a clean cut on all 4 wires on my driver side. I rewired them and the lights went away. I chose to rewire them because a harness is about 90-100 bucks.

So I checked all wiring to all wheels and cleaned the sensors . No fix . My VCDS won't talk to the abs controller. Possible bad controller ?
