Just posted this in the MK IV forums, thought it might fit better here though...


Does anyone know of a double din video deck that allows you to connect to your OBD-II port and view diagnostics (temp, mpg, etc...) on the screen of the deck? I've seen modern vehicles with this feature and I'd love to have it in my 2002 1.8t.

I know that there are many cheap tools to display the info I'm looking for (Scan Gauge II, Ultraguage, etc...). Most video decks (this one, for example:

offer an A/V input. I wonder if it would be possible to use an Ultragauge, for example, modified to have an A/V out, running into the A/V inputs of a video deck. Anyone have any ideas/experience with this?

Your car doesn't already display that info in the dash? Do you have a GL or something?

Your best bet would probably be a carputer or doubledin unit made to display diagnostics (there's a few out there, but not many). I personally would go carputer as then you can customize and run just about anything you can think of
