I bought a 1999 jetta 2.0L couple of days a go and the only problem i have with this car is the cassette player It not working. the one i have right now is this kind http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/seanmix/57734_01.jpg and i was wondering if i upgrade it to this http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/seanmix/caad33d1-91b7-4106-8f41-08e3bf31b27.jpg? do i need new wiring or you just plug it in to the factory wiring?

its a different style harness with the monsoon system and also the output on the speakers are at different levels, on is high level one is a style of low level. best bet is to either go aftermarket or search the vortex for another cassette player with the combo cd player... hope this helps

Try calling around to junk yards also if you have any near buy the ones around here sometimes get to many of them on stock and unload them for like 5-20 bucks.

I have the same Cd cassette player you do hooked up to a 6 disc changer. Ever since I bought the car I have had problems with it. I know the wiring harnesses are different, but does anyone know if its a lot of work to replace it with a after market CD player and just ditch the 6 disk changer?
