If I missed it forgive me I did a little searching and couldn't find anything relative to my situation.

Both my tach and speedo on my mk3 are dead. I read up and found that usually it's the speed sensor, and luckily the previous owner had pulled one from another mk3 before having it go to the impound. Anyway, either the speed sensor I installed is not working still or there's some other issue (maybe with the cluster) since the tach doesn't work too.

The rest of the gauges work fine if I remember correctly (fuel and temp) and the odometer works fine as well.

If anybody could give me next steps to look at I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Try and borrow a speedo from a friend to eliminate it. Try that first and keep us posted with the outcome.

i seriously have the same problem..except sometimes mine works!? wtf..

i also changed speed sensor but same **** goes on!

Thanks guys, yeah I slept on it and the thing that makes the most sense is some dead wires at the back of the cluster. I don't really have any friends around who I can just ask to rip a cluster out so I might swing by a junkyard to see if they have one to test it out and replace. Currently I have a more pressing newly found (clutch) issue though so I'll get back to you guys when I can.

I want to get rid of the wack green light and the outdated display. I have a blue radio light so I wanna make it all blue

I have the same problem in my mk3 but my tach works...I. have changed both cluster and sensor and still having the problem....also when I hit bump it rattles some thing and the some ***** will work for a while.....also dislike the green lights..would like to update!

im gonna order the lights this week. replacing each bulb in the window buttons are not going to be fun. i have to re-paint all my door handles anyway since theyve faded to a dull grey over the past 14yrs
