So i have this 88 GL sedan. Problem started a few months before i deployed last year. Regardless of the temp, it has a tendency to rev itself to 3.5k-4.5k RPMs. I have replaced the knock sensor, oil temp sending sensor, MAP sensor, wires, plugs, AIC valve. i never got a chance to get in there with a multi-meter and go by the Bentley manual to check all the readings. I did however burn up my ignition switch, so i have to hotwire it to start it. sigh..anyone know anything before i drop it off at the dealer?

isnt there a way to scan them? i thought there was a scan tool plug under the shift cover on those. OBD1?

Nope, they dont have OBD until 89. I just missed out on it with an 88. The only way to trouble shoot it is with a multimeter and the manual. Too bad my car is in Dallas and im 250 miles away...

Go through the steps in the bently. to me it sounds like the idle screw might be backed out a little too far, but go through the steps and then go from there.
