i removed my muffler and resonator on my '01 vr6 then added a spectre intake. i talked to someone and they said i should put a muffler on it because the engine is tuned and set for back pressure and even reprograming, you run the risk of getting a massive ticked for no muffler (seattle, wa). what do you guys think; reprogram or put a muffler on it.

Your friend is right. On N/A engines, you need some sort of back pressure in your exhaust, otherwise you lose out on low end torque. There's also the fact that some state inspections require you have some sort of muffler or resonator that muffles the exhaust sound to a certain degree. With that said, straight pipes don't sound too great IMO.
