Engine Noise

Hi, guys, I just bought an 08 2.5 manual trans. Jetta. I love the car so far, but was wondering (and I searched, sorry if this has been asked) if anyone else hears a buzzy sound from the engine on moderate to hard acceleration from around 2.2k -3k RPM's. If I accelerate slow I don't really hear the sound, and at higher RPM's it seems to go away too. I just want to make sure everythings alright.

Thanks for your help.

It's more of a fast click-click-click, or thud-thud-thud sound. It's pretty muted too, but I guess it does start around that 1.7k RPM range, and you can hear it more in 3nd -3rd -4th than in first gear. So it might just be the engine. In fact as I get into higher RPM's it doesn't go away it just goes faster and ends up sounding more like a drone rather than a fast clicking...
I dunno, I'm sure it's fine. I'm comming from an RX-8 rotory powered car, and it made different sounds, so I prob just need to get used to it.
Does it sound like the belts would be making that noise?
I don't think so. I really might just be the sound of the engine. It just sounds...strained maybe? If I accelerate at a light pace, it doesn't do it.
Well your still under warranty so i would go get it checked out. I don't think it's something major.
noise at idle

i try not to go service unless i really have to but, i have a light clicking sound at idle after engine rev drops to below 1k-almost like the noise cheap gas creates-but i use shell 91 every time. any ideas? thanks.
Re: noise at idle

it sounds like what you hear is the turbo,as it kicks in around 1600rpm, not an issue is normal.

He's got a 2.5 so I don't think that would be it unless it's an aftermarket turbo.

can you explain to me that sound again...

are you sure it wasnt thud thud thud click click click
My car has the same problem......So I went and seeked help, what they told me is that its the valve cover...since its made out of plastic it tends to make that noise...
I have a 2007 2.5 Jetta and an Rx-7 (rotary powered like the Rx-8. ) I can hear the noise you are talking about in my Jetta. I think your just spoiled from driving that smooth rotary around for awhile...:)

Every 5 cyclinder that I have heard/driven have sounded different then most engines(my personal opinion). That and what was mentioned before about the plastic parts so you can hear stuff more then some other cars. If your really worried about it or it gets worse just take it to the dealership.

Why did you get rid of the 8?
