Is there any good engine swaps for the 99.5-04 jetta.... The 2.0 just aint cuttin it... or nething i can do... fine off the start then dies and doesnt come back till higher speeds...

The good old feeling of a 2.0 8V....... Have you done any mods to it? If not give it a chance...... 2.0 is a mighty little engine...... Once you have some performance parts it it will give you that middle gear umpfff!!!

But if you are really looking for an engine swap try the 2.0 16V GLI engine or a VR6 like everyone else haha..

lol... what would you say would be the first place to start and what brands... etc... how much would a vr6 engine go for... can u interchange the newer mk v engines with the mk iv car... my car is nice... the interior is everything i want in a car and i dont wanna go through trying to find another car with all the options mine has... thats y im wanting to do an engine swap vs find a new jetta

generaly from what i've read a good start for mods would be an underdrive pulley, however this would make it rev higher so idk...

There really isn't much to do for an AEG 8V. Older 8V's are awesome, but somehow VW messed this one up. There are cams, pulleys, and a turbo or SC kit. You can get power out of them, but financially it might be better to get a new VW with a VR in it already, preferably a MKIII Golf. Not trying to discourage you, just letting you know where I stand with my 2.0 and how much of a pain this is.

2 (point) slow as they say......... good thing i ditched mine...... Pulleys are def a good start... they are pretty cheap too.......
