I'm getting my windows tinted next weekend and can't wait!

I was wondering if anyone's got an 08 Jetta tinted and if there were any problems you ran into that I should watch out for.

The reason I ask is because I also have an 08 Lancer GTS and the tint will scratch unless they put moleskin inserts over the weather stripping.

I JUST got my windows tinted yesterday at 35% all the way around....it looks sharp and that is not even legal here. If i had my way I would get at least 15%.

Going on Saturday morning. I'm getting 20% on the sides (35 is the law...but what the heck) and back and 40% on the windshield. I'll try to post pictures (again) when it's done but I haven't had much luck with that.

I'm getting two cars done (I have an 08 Lancer GTS too) so the guy cut me a deal. They're doing both cars with metalic film for $380 plus tax.

By the way, when you're shopping around make sure the film is metalic. The dyed film is horrible about fading. Been there...done that.

Good price! I got quotes as high as $250 on my Jetta and one actually told me $325 for the Lancer.

Having window tint here is a necessity instead of a luxury so I guess they can charge more. Darn economics!

WOW I was told $250 for everything 35% which is what I wanted. I definatly may have to shop even more.

Well, I ended up getting 15% on everything but left the windshield alone. It looks sweet! I decided against tinting the windshield after sitting in the owners car that had it. Even at 40% I could see how the roads around here would be a problem at night (narrow, winding and no street lights). Glad he was honest enough to warn me.

I'll post pics after I get a chance to clean her up.

I Had Windows Tinted On 08' Jetta 15% The Only Concern Was That They Could Not Put Strip Across Top Of Front Windshield Due To The Way The Rear View Mirror Is Attached To Window. More Prone To Cracking Windshield When Trying To Remove To Put Tint On. Rest Of Car Looks Great. Looks And Quality Of Work Depends On Experience Of The Person Doing The Tint. TOTAL 140.00

I got 15% all around and 35% on the windshield strip on my '07. Non-metallic tint (won't interfere with electronic signals) and they said the rear-view mirror wasn't a problem. My bill came to $269.00 and its backed by a lifetime warranty. They will even re-do one window for free no questions asked. I love the look, and its a better job than I could do myself!

i got my windows 5% in the back and 20% in the front for 100$ out here in chicago but i had problems with the law cause out here u cant have any tints on the front and side windows only the rear windows paid a couple tickets adding up to 450$ and then took them off but kept the rear at limo dark tints it still looks pretty sweet also got my tailights tinted gave a whole new look to the car also i put in a turbo from an 06 Gti runs a lot better and has a lot more power

Already having problems with my tint **sigh**

There were tiny air bubbles near the bottom edge where they said that dust from the weather stipping had gotten under the tint. Now it's peeling off from the bottom up.

They have a 3 year replacement warranty but it's a pain in the butt to have to drive 20 miles and then spend half a Saturday there.

i plan on getting mine done sometime hopefully in the next two weeks. 35% is the best you can get around here without getting pulled over, so i might have to keep it legal which i don't want to do. but i don't want to get pulled over for not displaying a front license plate and then let them rape me for having illegal tints. but i got black interior so hopefully it'll look darker than it really is.

nice ride, man, love the wheels! I didnt see those as an option, did you paint them yourself? throw on a GLI grill and that would look nice, too...

Another Laser Blue owner! Congrats, we're a rather rare breed. I have the only one in the Memphis area (at least a MKV that is). I'll post pics if I can ever get around to it.

I got 15% on mine, I thought about doing the 5% but I thought it might be pushing my luck. The cops don't bother you where I live but there's a couple of towns near me where they'll make you remove the tint on the spot or impound your car. I stay away from those areas.

What's the story on the wheels? Are they stock wheels painted or did you find some that the VW emblem fit? Please tell us.
