Hello, I am new to this site. I stumbled upon it a while back and searched for it again.

First of all my name is Kathy. You can call me Kathy or Kat, either one is fine. I work fast food and am in search of a new car.

The time has come where my Volkswagon Beetle has met her end, at least for me. There's so much wrong with that bug, it's better if I just trade her in. She runs about 3500 rpm at 55 mph, the radiator is about to fall out, ABS still acts up after fixing it, Brake lights are on and my brakes don't like to stop. These are things that have been fixed not too long ago either. I know they're ok but they still act up. Anyway, I'm fed up with this Beetle. IT used to be a rental (big mistake #1). I am thinking of buying a new Jetta.

I don't make the greatest income so I came here to find out some things while I save up as much money as I can for a down payment on a new car. Help me make that a Jetta! I've always just liked the name "Jetta". I don't know, I find it catchy.

Well, I need to know what type of gas mileage it will get, if it has "dummy" lights or actualy guages for the engine temp, etc. things like that, cost of a new one and maybe if anyone can help out, average of about insurance cost. I know that will vary from person to person, but I know it has got to be better than a sports car or convertible would be.

I'm about to graduate college (Saturday) and in a couple months I'm going to buy a new car. Please help me out! [woo] :D:coolsmiley:

new jettas are starting at around 17...as for mpg's which is really important because gas is going up like crazy..my vr6 gets about 25 miles to the gallon..but it's because of how i drive..driving normal it gets 29 highway mpg's..but you have to take into consideration the gas you're putting in also..i use premium in my car. as for insurance..it shouldn't be too bad on the car but it also depends on you..if you get the car new you'll obviously have to fully insure it..jetta's are awesome..i got mine about 4 months ago and i couldn't be happier...vw's are like people..you have to show them love haha...it sounds weird but i find it true

Yeha, "Daisy" is like my own kid or something. My boyfriend drives her when we go places usually (he's better driver) but I've had my "accidents" in the past. Daisy is my first car. I don't know what the warranty on the new ones are yet. I'm torn between Jetta, Mitusubishi Lancer, and a Pontiac Vibe. The Vibe gets close to 40 mpg and the Lancer about 35 or so highway, and their cost is about the same as the Jetta too, around 16-17. It will depend on where I go too. I'm not high risk but Daisy has been in a ditch and hit 2 deers. She has been fixed, but she was a rental before I owned her, so who knows how bad she was treated before. Thanks for the info, I will keep it in mind. I won't be buying a car for a couple of months yet, but it's good to look ahead and plan. I have carpal tunnel surgery end of this month, then I"ll be off work for a while. Hopefully it won't be too bad and I can get back to work and then save for a car. I'm saving now, as much as I can.

Yeah gas prices stink bad. My beetle takes about 45-50 to fill up, probably more after pricing raising today around here. Here it's up to 7.75 I think. After surgery, I'll be able to stop paying so much for gas, but I will still be driving some to go places and not gaining any money lol. Well, I'm babysitting my neice so I"ll get off here. Thanks again for the info. If anyone else can think of anything else I should know, please add.
