[wtf] ive had my jetta for about 6 monthes now and it has left me sit about twice a month for diffrent problems. to start off the car leaks about 3 quarts of oil every week my mechanic keeps saying its okay volkswagen leave their mark but dont always leak yeah right not 3 quarts a week ! ive had electrical problems with wiring where my back lights dont always come on when i flip the switch and i may have top flip it on and off 10-15 times for them all to be on but once they are they will stay on, i juist got it bacvk yesterday it had to be taken in for blowing a valve leaving my car with about 3/4 of the power it should and the mechanic replaced just the valve did a slight tune up and threw some new tires on the car when i went to get it as soon as it started up it sputtered and had some trouble starting but did start i told him to check it out .now please excuse me i dont have a vast knowledge on cars thats why im on here so just help me out . he pulled what looked like plugs off the front of the engine their was four of them checked asll four and the one all the way to the right was dirty he said from the electric fuel pump and the car being run low on gas now remember he just replaced this same plug before i got the car back so he put a new one in and it started up just fine free of charge and i went on my way i drove a total of 63 miles since it was fixed came home that night parked it and went to bed now i woke up at like 715 that morning went out to leave for school and it started up and immediatley died .....[wtf] i tried again to turn it on the car sputtered but didnt even seem like it was attempting to start up made a small whinding sound and thats it did it a few times and it started to catch but could never start the whole way up !!!!! i just got this car and payed 750 dollars to get everything fixed because i love this car and it now is in the same state it was in right before i took it in , my mechanic is a factory trained vw specialist and only deals with vw's if anybody could help please let me know i dont want to waste more money or lose my favorite car

I think you need to find a new mechanic. Vw's mark their spot...yeah, if there is something not done right or worn beyond specs. And that "saying" is for air-cooled Vw's. I have been messing with air-cooled for 40 years and a good solid engine does NOT leak.

The fact that one plug is fouled means you either have a valve or ring problem in that cylinder . A good mechanic should do a compression and/leak down test to determine what the problem is.

One thing about buying a used car...plan on putting about $1,000.00 into it to get it reliable and up to spec. You can save a lot of money by learning how to do routine maintenance yourself. This will save you a ton of money and give you a very reliable car all at the same time. Routine maintenance is not hard, doesn't require a ton of tools, and can be very rewarding...Smithy

That was the majority of the 750 fix was the valve job he said he didn't completley rebuild everything but just that one valve to make it cheaper for me and he told me the problem now may be the fuel pump relay not staying on after the cars starting making it cut off but like I said I don't know much about Cars so it's a pain going back and forth with my mechanic cuz who knows if he just wants to tell me it's a cheap fix just to get the car to him cuz it always seems like it turns out to be more than he says

Agreed with Smithy 100%.

Why did you need that valve replaced? Does it still leak 3 quarts of oil?

the car had no power seemed like i was running it through 2 feet of mud wherever it went and it got to a point where it wasent drivable real quick it had no compression so the car only had 3/4 of the power

Whaat? Where was it leaking from? Fixing a valve shouldn't fix an external oil leak unless it were comming straight out the tail pipe... in which case your cat is totally f*cked which could be why your car wont start.
