A light came on in the dash of my 2000 Jetta 2.0L...it is in the center top of the indicator light cluster and it is a circle with 3 dash lines on either side encircling the circle. The car is not running wierd and I took it to a Schucks where they hooked up an OBD reader but no codes were coming up????? Does anybody know what the light is for?? Thanks

Hi there,

In my other car, this usually indicates that the brake system has an issue (air in the master cylinder, parking brake not releasing, etc..) it may not generate a code since it is not specific to the check engine light. If you have your owners manual, check in the front section of it to see what the light is indicating (it will be in the section that tells all about your dash and where certain lights are located).

Good luck and let us know what it turns out to be.

Cheers -

That would be your front brake pad wear indicator light. It means that your brake pads inthe front have worn down enough to activate the sensor in the pad. Time to change them! It will reset when the new one is plugged in. It should be in your owners manual mine is in section 3.1 indicator #15.
