Hey im new to the forum and actually new to vw. As of right now i own a 96 eagle talon and i am looking for something different. One of my friends has a jetta and i fell in love the first time i saw it.

I still havent drove one yet but my friend says that are really fun. I have been looking around and if i buy one i think it would be a MkIII, but im not sure what engine i would want.

Thanks

Jarred

try cars.com...you just put in the make model and how much you're willing to spend on the car..then put in your zip code and it'll search around your area for a jetta..i find it really helpful..some of the cars listed even give you free carfax reports..that's how i got my jetta

Good choice with the MkIII jetta!!! I've got a VR6 MkIII and i highly recommend one! The only downside i have experinced is that they can be confusing to work on because German's are weird LOL ... AND they get horrible gas mileage! At first i was getting an average of 17mpg in the city and 25 freeway, but i changed my oil to Royal Purple and now i get 19mpg in city and 29 freeway

Nope....... my suggestion would be to supercharge a VR6..... you would have mad balls from that thing...... Turbos have to build pressure and release.. supercharge is always building and releasing...

slightly less as it is driven by your crank/pulleys. Best bang for your buck = Twin charge (Super and Turbo) you get the added boost of the turbo, but the instantaneous boost of the super

ALOT

gotta remember the extra costs:

pistons
connecting rods
injectors
regulator
fuel pump
cam
valves/springs
ignition system

ontop of the charger/turbo
manifolds
exhaust
piping
intercooler
etc.

this would be a huge project

guess i should update that,

it does have a Short Ram Intake now which i hope to move to a CAI eventually.

As far as performance goes the only other thing planned was exhaust. I simply can't afford anything else. My project this summer is custom interior lighting.

i've been in the same situation..i can't afford anything but for some reason i keep buying things..i don't know if i want to do performance onto my car first or looks to it..i just ordered my halo projector headlights for it..but i'm still figuring out what to do first
