Hi I've got a 1992 VW Jetta GL 1.8 Liter that I just love and adore, but the damn thing sucks money. The latest is that, out of nowhere, the heater vents on the passenger side of the car started emitting a vapor, which I believe to be coolant. Sure enough, shortly after, the car ran out of coolant.
I can feel heat from behind the dash on that side of the car, as if the heater is running.
I'm almost certain it's the heater core that's gone bad. But if anyone out there has any ideas I'd be glad to hear em. Also, if you happen to be knowledgeable in this area, is changing the heater core something I could pull off (as a amateur, aspiring VW mechanic whose real skill is math) changing the heater core on my own?
Thanks.
