Looking to repair some rust

Depending on how bad the rust is, there's stuff that can convert rust into a sandable primer. I used it once while helping a friend resto his GTO kuz there was rust around the windscreen and rear glass. We applied the stuff, let it stand as long as directed, and then went in prepped for paint. Worked well, and held up.

I suppose you MIGHT be correct lol. These were just minor rust spots on the paint more than rust damage, thats why I just used the chemical. It was some gel that's supposed to stop the rust from spredding and converts it into paintable surface. Since it wasn't extreme rust it worked out fine.

Now if you're worried ****'s going to break, or you see holes forming...yah... that's a whole different kind of animal. Then you have to do what Gargamel said, and "convert" the rust yourself lol. I'm glad that as of yet I havn't had to deal w/ any of that. My T/A spent most of it's life in Arizona, glorious land of rust free muscle.

I(smartass) originally thought you were under stress due to your recent B&E and were having a mispelling/wording moment...I have never really heard of this de-rusting agent that turns to primer..can you recall the name?
sheltered Canadian:)
;D ;D
You know I've got nothing but love for you my brother. I have been under some stress from the B&E, but more so from the whole having to find a job so i can do this thing they call life.

After a quick bit of research, I came across the exact product that I used on that project: Klean-Strip Rust Converter: http://www.levineautoparts.com/kleanruscon.html

This is another type of "converter" that is more like a sealer, stopping the rust from spreading/rusting over again. It can be painted as well:

The first one was some good stuff. It can be bought at most major auto parts stores, or if you can't find it online, that site had it at a good price. You should check it out, i'm sure you'd like it.

You rock as always manO0:coolsmiley:....At $8.99 a can its deffinately worth looking into.
Thanks homie. That is a great bargain, I think when I bought it back when it was around $15. Like I said, I used it for minor clean up, nothing that would have needed to be cut and filled. Great for around windows, bottom trim, and fenders.
