I have a 99 Jetta Wolfs edition.

The car, I think, still has the factory shocks on it and it has tires and wheels that are a couple sizes bigger than those factory skate wheels. Right now, if I put my 3 kids in the back seat and have dog food and water and general grocery items in the trunk, every time I hit a bump, the tires hit the inside of the fender wells and the shocks bottom out.

Will new shocks help this matter much or is it useless with the 2 size bigger tires and wheels? I know they sell adjustable shocks, would something like that be better or will regular shocks most likely fix it?

I have never replaced shocks that have springs so I am not sure what special tools are required other than maybe a spring compressor??????

I know this is a dumb question but I need to get these replaced fast as we are leaving next week for a 16 hour road trip with all the family and a trunk full of clothes and golf clubs.

Hmmm... Perhaps... Depending on how the car was driven, the shocks may be shot. Also, I'm not 100% sure but I think the Wolfs edition might have "sport" springs which are a bit lower. Would it be possible to get a side-view picture of your car and know what size your wheels and tires are so we might be able to get a visual of what is happening...

go to the back corner of the car

push it down then release. it should spring back up and stay

if it bounces

your shocks are done
