My buddy helped me put a new clutch in my 01 jetta and when we put everything back together, we went to start it.. And it won't start..

I turn the key and I don't even get a starter sound or anything.. You can hear fuel pumping, thats about it.

My buddy is clueless so I thought I'd ask here.. Just incase it's happened before and someone had some ideas. The only thing I can think of is the cylinder slave.. Someone might have hit the clutch when the tranny was down.

I just ran into the same situation today. Finished the clutch and now it wont run but it gets worse. The cylinders are all filling with fuel. I noticed the fuel pump wasnt shutting off. Someone mentioned the fuel pressure regulator but nobody knows for sure. I am an autoshop student that only has 3 days to find and fix the issue. Can someone help.:(

Scan for codes!

First guy.. If you don't hear the starter at all, make sure its connected electronically. Some people will disconnect them while changing the flywheel. You should hear it working if not turning over the engine.

Second guy check the FPR to make sure its still clamped in and not leaking... Check the vacuum line from the FPR to the manifold as well. I don't see why those things should've gone bad but you never know.....

I've never heard of this before, but thats my .02...

Well I figured out why my jetta wasn't turning over... Someone took the injector fuse out during the clutch job.. Poped a new fuse in and it's fine. Hope you figured your problem out Lionel, and Boost thanks for the input.

I found out my issue. The computer is busted due to a bad ground cable that had 4800 ohms of resistance. The computer tried to ground on something else and shorted out. Thats what ended up keeping the fuel injectors open. So now i'm in the market for a Digifant II computer. Well at least I found out what it was.
