Hi to you all
I hope you can help. I have just become the proud owner of a 1992 1.6 Turbo Diesel Jetta, resplendent in faded red paint and a nasty rattle.
On investigation the rattle turned out to be the inner of the two water pump pulleys (which I expect at one point one double pulley. By the looks of what I have read and what this thing looks like, the back pulley, as it were, was free to rotate on a bearing which seems to have disintergrated leaving the pulley to rattle around on its hub (I really hope I'm making sence). I have tried to locate a replacement with little luck. The VW dealers parts guy says he thinks it a pulley with a harmonic balancer?! which was around the $200!!!
Is this right? and if so is there am alternative?

Please help

Nic

If you have a abad pulley i would suggest replacing them all with performance pulleys..... may be somewheres like 35-45 USD per pulley... but trust me its a cheap performance upgrade with results.....

The other day i just saw a 1.6T Diesle... was a nasty car..... to tell you the truth they kept right on my ass at like 100........

Anyways good luck with the car, get some pictures and welcome to the site..
