Hello everone!
I'm turning 18 this june and i'm wanting a new car. I have my mindset on a V-Dub Jetta. I want the bodystyle from the early 2000's. I can't afford the new ones, but i don't want to go lower than a 99 since i currently have a 99 saturn. I love my saturn, but its always got something wrong with it. In the past month, the serp. belt needed replaced, as well as the battery and the muffler. I've always wanted a jetta, and this summer i'll be able to take a loan out and get one. My question is-i've heard people say they are unreliable and break-down alot. Now, i know that any car you have will have its ups/downs, but are these cars prone to break down alot? Are they reliable? How do you like your jetta? Have you had any problems with it? Thanks in advance for all the feedback!:)

My jetta has never broken down in the 2000 miles I've owned it. I really like my Jetta. There's enough room to haul a few amps for my band, enough more than enough power to get me around safely, and the GLI I have is pretty slick. However, I need to replace the bushings and there's a leak in the power steering system. The build is top notch, and the interior is very nice indeed. My dad even thought about buying it. I'm 19, so maintenance money doesn't come easily, but it's a great way to learn how to do it on your own! Just have some experienced guidance. Jettas are fun, sporty, and generally nice to be in :) Good luck
