i like the hatch because i surf and snowboard and for quick trips ide prefer not 2 strap to the roof all the time, but does the backseat of the mkv gli fold down for trunk access because if it does then it serves the same purpose w/o the eyesore of the hatch.(although for a wagon the wrx looks pretty damn good)

Yeah the seats fold down all the way if want to put large items. That's a really tough decision. Although i personally would go with the Jetta. test drive both cars and c which one you are more comfortable with. good luck

My previous car was the Impreza with the 6spd STi tranny, and now I drive a VR6. Personally, two completely different cars. Depends on what you want em for. The Subie got up alot quicker, and seemed to take beatings better, but the VW is just nicer. It's better for a DD IMO that still is gorgeous and gets up, but if your looking for turning heads and good handling, go with the Subaru. If you do, you better get a HKS bov. Even on the hatch. :D They sound so amazing.

The price on the 06 GLI seems a bit high, you could probably get it for 18 with nav. Check auto trader. an 06 should not be over 20K. I personally hate the look of the new subies, 04 was the best style. Even though the GLI has less power, its almost as quick and gets better fuel economy when you're not mashing the throttle. It really does come down what you want to do with the car.

SERIOUSLY CHECK THE PRICING THOUGH. DONT PAY 20999 FOR AN 06. An 06 with cloth seats and a sunroof is only 15K on autotrader.

If you end up deciding that you want the Subaru all you end up with at the end is with a Subaru, which will probably break because you want to drive it to hard. But with a vw you end up with a car that has known limits. You know what you can and cannot do with it. If you do something that it cannot do it will make sure that it tells you. That is why the vw is the better car.:)

I agree with integra.

The 06 GLI is a rip.

Subaru is GM now... Their motors are OK, but all wheel drive is second to none. The only problem is, they use viscous differentials. Junk if you ask me. Most people dont realize you need to change the diff. fluids every 15K miles. Miss one or two changes and you can kiss your AWD goodbye. Subaru's overall quality is kinda crappy for the prices they charge.

Its a hard decesion... I say go Mitsubishi Evolution 8 lol. Good differentials, easy to mod, very powerful, but it still drives like a tin can..

Realistically, go Wolfsburg. And remember, the MK5 GLI from the showroom is only $200 more than your regular jetta and you get ALOT for that money lol so remember that when you go pricing things.

The GLI is a better bet in my opinion. Sure AWD is fun and all but It's nothing to base your purchase on. If i were you I'd get the GLI (talk them down way down in price) and then spend 600 bucks on an APR tune and get close to 300 hp and torque. You can't beat how torquey the 2.0T is for the price and upgradeability.

I say go for the Impreza. My first car was a stock Impreza L and I now drive a VR6. I honestly had more fun in my Impreza even though it had almost 50 hp less. To those who say they aren't built well; I disagree..........my impreza took any **** I threw at it and still ran top.
