alright, im new to jetta's, im looking to get a 2002 1.8t with 50k miles.

Is there anything i should look for and is there anything that goes out regularly on these cars?

I just paid 5600 for a '00 with a 2.0 and 82k. There's a little bit of hail damage but it was still a couple K less than most everything else I looked at.

Hm, in the pics it looks like its in really good cond. but i think i'm going to go look at it sometime this week. I've found alot of jetta's around my area for around 7000. I live in texas, i donnno if that makes a diff?

Leave that 1.8t behind n look for a 03-up 24v vr6. 6500 seems kinds steep for only 50k. my 04 had 38k and I got it for 14k flat before warranty, fees, etc. but it its in good shape and is something you like by all means jump on it. I am wanting a 02 Getta vr6 guy is asking 8999 and has 72k so idk. Just do your research.

What do you think, from experience i think that is a little high since its been modded up but i dunno. any suggestions.

Seems a little high for me (with 100K+ miles on it). Also, be careful with modded cars, unless you are familiar with the mods that the seller has done or are comfortable with trusting the seller. If you know nothing about how the car works, you could be stepping into a hole world of trouble...

ya i know, i asked the dealer to call the original owner and get a complete list of everything done to the car.

The dealer was like," seriously? why?" i just told him" I know a thing or two about cars and i want to make sure the cars not gonna blow up after a few more miles." He said he would try, i told him unless i know everything done to this car i probably wont get it.

* I thnk to be a car salesman there should be a requirement that you actually know something about cars. I saw a decent grand prix and was talking to the guy and i mentioned"The 3800 huh, thats a good one." refering to the motor, the guy thought i was talkin about the price and corrected me.

I have a 99 Jetta 2.0gl with a little over 87k on it and I paid 3k for it as is though. I put another 2k on engine and other minor details but it was totally worth it.

You got charged too much, I got my 04, GLS 1.8T, 5spd Tiptronic. with 37k on it, and I paid 14k before tax & title etc.

eh i just paid 16k for my 05 GLI, it only had 50k on the odometer and that turbo whistles like a dream...
