Pretty neat, huh? And the guy had gotten an extended warranty with it so I feel pretty lucky. Just hope everything stays as nice as it's been. One guy yesterday told me his '03 passat fell to pieces at 50k, gas tank cracked, etc... He had to sink like 5k into it.

When I researched the Jetta most of the reviews were either, "love it, never go back," or, "VW sucks, this this and this happened..." Hope to end up the former. Anyway, won't take me long to rack up the miles on it. I've only had it since Dec and I put plenty of miles on my cars.

Jetta Gas Savey

:) Gas Prices $ 3.67/gal, I topped off = 5.58 gals to fill it up, had 178miles on the tank that averages 31.89 MPG......... I can't complain, [woo]

[mrcool]Love my Jetta, I only fill up every 2-3weeks it costs me about $42.00 per fill up...........

Mine is a 2006 Jetta! 2.5

[wtf] you only have 49k on your 04 jetta??!?!
Not that I should be bragging, since I have put 6,000 miles on it since I got it 3 months ago, but I just crossed 26,500 in my '04 today

Back to the topic at hand... I usually don't let my tank get below 1/4 (habit from driving a previous tuck with a whacked out gas gauge) so my mileage number isn't that impressive, but the best I have had so far was 300 miles on 10 gal of gas (I guess I could have just said 30mpg). That was all highway driving at 70-80 mpg. The average I have been getting recently is about 25mpg (60% highway 40% city) with the air conditioning on half the time.

I've heard that you can get a small bit better mileage being chipped (along with other bennefits ;) ). Anyone have any experience with this?

Yea I have an 04 2.0 I also drive more city/town but i get about 140-180 on a 1/2 tank i am heavy on the gas sometimes when I have to respond to calls so im sure that doesnt help my gas milage. but next tank im not gonna drive fast or anything. I am also useing rgular oil so in about 500 miles when i do my oil change im gonna go 1/2 synthic then drive for like 1k miles then chang over to full and see if that helps at all.

I've seen some people claim seafoam made their gas mileage worse, but only because they messed up. are you sure you did it all right?

Did you burn your tank out and everything? also alot of people found that seafoam can break old seals that were kept closed by debris.

Yea I just filled up my tank of gas and still seem like im losing MPG im wondering if I need to change the fuel fiilter. I mean im gonna see what happens after i fill up again im gonna change my driving habbit to see if that is the reason. But idk what else it could be im just gonna keep track of how i drive. Do you think i should run it thru one more time in the gas to try to break up any guk that might of got on my o2 sensors or maybe any gunk that may be clogging up a line or something. I mean I just changed my plugs and wires so its not them.

Just filled up today and I got 303.4 mi on 11.516gals. That gave me a little better than 26 mpg which is up from just under 24 the last tank full. I eased up on the throttle a little this time too and had more highway this time. This with a bad cat waiting for the dealer to replace.

I probly coulda squeezed 350 out of it today since I had 3 more gallons to go, but I was going by a BJs and wanted the cheaper gas so I stopped in. $2.79

why would you go 1/2 and 1/2 and not just change straight over to synthetic?
I just bought an '01 Jetta 1.8T last week and I'm pretty sure the previous owner never put synthetic in it, but I plan to start. I got 26mpg on the first 2 tanks... I would love to sqeeze another couple out of it, but gosh darn- that turbo is just so deliciously smooth I can't help myself! lol. I'm hoping the synthetic will help.
