Hey,

I just bought a 2001 Jetta, 1.8T, and when I start the car it screams for a second after I start it, and it sounds like the starter is not disengaging properly. It runs well, and it doesn't pose any real problem as it disengages after a second or two, but I can't imagine the extra wear is good for the starter.

Any ideas?

That makes sense, Thanks. How do I go about fixing that. Should i just try tapping it with a screw driver or something and see if that solves it?

lol mine too

ive owned mine for over a year now and it has done it even before i got it from a guy at work. i have no clue on how to fix it and i love the way ppl jump when i start my car.
