So I was thinking the other day about a way to do something with the license plate................

You know how people have those smoked covers for the license plates??

What if you used NightShades on a Clear one, and coated it enough to be a black black color, not smoked.

Well you wouldn't see your license plate..

But from there you some how lighted the inside of it enough to illuminate the license plate to see it at night with no problem, and have the lights stay on when the car is running to make it lit up during the day. But when the lights/truck is not on, the license plate cover is pitch black...

Any body think we could make it work?

I know you would probably have to extend the licenseplate cover out to make lights fit in there, and it would have to illuminate good. I have some led's on my motorcycle since I have a relocated plate on it that stick directly on the plate, and shines on it and is only like a 1/4" tall, so those may work and be low profile enough..

Discuss.

it would be alot easier to just put a limo tints on the cover...lighting would be a another issue..haha id say HID plate lights..but yeaa that would work

My Response was in response to this one ... Like when your parked you know?
And either way, He said hed Have it illuminated in the day time and blacked out while parked or while his car is off... So My previous post stays as is unedited,

I reject your logic and substitute my own =)

Cops in my area would most likely love to pull you over for something stupid like that. I just have the license plate LEDs tapped into my euro switch so i can kill them. Havent had to use that yet...hopefully never will.

Where I live we can't even tint our side windows without $120 fine and loss of points, and currently trying to lower the percent allowed for the back glass....theory behind the idea is pretty neat but just not practi

if your looking to have a liscense plate that is "hidable" go to swiftmotorsports.com and they specialy make a hide-away liscense plate holder. I only know this cause i live in CT and have actually seen one. They are pretty sick and a really good idea

I had some of the smoked covers on my plates, and I was getting pulled over constantly (like 14 times in about 3 months). The officers claimed that it was interfering with the reflectivity of the plate, and therefor not allowed. I kept the one on the front plate, but switched out the rear one for a clear. I haven't been pulled over since I switched it in September, 2010. Ohio plates are pretty ugly, but are you robbing banks or something?

And VeeDubJetta98, they can still ticket you with the VIN number on the dash.
