Need some help I would like to have an hd receiver for my 2003 jetta it has a double sized monsoon receiver that originally came with the car. Does anyone know if you can put a newer stock double sized receiver in an older vehicle or are there any nice double size aftermarket receivers that fit on an MKIV?

If the new ones are 1 or 2 din you should be good to go.

Plenty. Just gotta search. Crutchfield always has good fits. They have a chart telling you what will/won't fit.

Also, if you go single DIN you have the option for one of those stock compartments for extra storage or, if you don't have any/enough already, gauges from 42draftdesigns.com like these.

Have fun with monsoon. I've gotten quotes and because of the amp it comes with, I need a $150 rewire before I can touch the head unit. Then because of the nicer speakers, I'd have to buy a new amp to make it sound right. If you have the money, do the rewire, new HU and all new speakers.
