Stock Stereo to Upgraded VW Stereo?

Hey V Dub Heads,

I have a question concerning stereo upgrades. Now I don't want to go aftermarket stereo because I have never been big on aftermarket, unless its an old beater car! ;) I want to stay stock with this car the best I can for the time being. I was looking around on the grand web and found people selling stereo's from their 2.5's I have a 2006 2.5 the basic basic model.

Now can I just grab one of those 'better' stereos from the higher model 2.5 and put them in my car? Wanted to see if anyone has attempted this yet before I tried.

Thanks!

Just trying to get this back to the top, so that you all can view it and maybe respond!
From what I understand... The newer model Jettas (MkV) have interchangeable stereos. However if you get one with GPS/Navigation built in, you will have to wire-up the GPS antenna.... I could be wrong though...
you could swap it out somewhat easily, but i don't think it'll help audio quality much because the speakers will still be the same. I think all the jettas get the same speakers so they sound pretty much the same. I've had a jetta S and a GLI both w/ different stereos but the music sounded the same.

Thanks Guys! I'ts not actually for sound, more or less features. I have the BASIC stereo, and i need a jack for my IPOD, and also for looks. Not into big glitzy blingly stereos anymore. Had to many stolen out of my cars.. EVEN WITH a killer alarm
