Hey all,

I thought this site was kind of nifty:

http://tankonempty.com/

You put in your model car and find out how far you can get on empty. Good article too to go along with it from ABC....

I heard that running your car down to true empty isn't good for the engine though and I wouldn't attempt this without a gas can in the trunk!

ps. my car shows 41 to 99 miles on E which is pretty broad. You can't narrow down the year/model so obviously there are some big time gradations here...

Are people really so stingy that they have to run the tank as far down as possible lol? Either way you have to pay for the gas so you might as well pay for it sooner than later. I rarely let my tank get below 1/4 and yes I heard it's bad because the engine sucks up fumes or something like that.

When you live in BFE, the difference could be, you get paid tomorrow and could make it home and back to work just fine. The single gas station driving past in the morning is closed until 7am so can't stop in the morning, must stop after work on the way home tomorrow on pay day. For me, that would be 50 miles of driving easy, which still leaves me plenty of gas on payday to fill up on the way home.

My wife on the other hand in her Tribute, isn't making it home if she is a bit above 1/4 tank. She must get fuel.
