Hey im out here in iraq right now and i have been seeing this car on base it looks like a 97 jetta but it is called a vento i was just wondering if anyone knew if it is just the euro version or if it is different?

You are correct... The MKIII Jetta is also called a Vento.

yea vento is jetta in german. If its a true vento it will have the vento grill front bumper(4 slat euro bumper) and rear, among other things

Thats what i thought, yeah it has all the euro body features light grill etc.

The Vento tag was named after wind just like Bora...

Yep it's called the Vento here in England too. Makes looking up parts on E-bay and so on easier too as it only relates to the one model.

In Europe they are:

MK1 - Jetta
MK2 - Jetta
MK3 - Vento
MK4 - Bora
MK5 - Back to Jetta again
