Hey,

So I have had my VW GLI 6 SPEED 2005 jetta 1.8t (yes it is the last year they made the mk4 it is a 2005) for a few months now and I am currently running a APR stage 2 tune and a have a few small mods the list is
-3in turbo back exhaust
-Raceland suspension
-APR driveter valve
-cold air intake

After driving the car for a few months the clutch has started to slip and when i rev the car it can over rev sometimes. I believe the issue is the clutch. I have been looking on ESC tuning and they have a kit for about 1000 bucks for stage 2 or 3. I want to go with a stage 3 kit but 1000 bucks is pretty steep for me in college. The guy who owned the car before me told me that he has a stage 2 clutch in the car but i do not know what brand it is! The clutch kit on ESC is the Spec stage 3 kit and requires that you have the SPEC flywheel when you install the clutch. I have no idea what clutch i have and am wondering if there are any cheaper options and if i have to replace the flywheel when I replace the clutch any opinions???

heres the links for the clutch's I am looking at.

you'll do just fine with a stage 2 clutch unless you up to a frenkenturbo or something, when you replace the clutch you must replace the flywheel unless you get your old one resurfaced, but that's just about as expensive as a new flywheel, with your clutch don't cheap out because you'll kick yourself in the end when you have to replace it 25k miles down the line, ask me how I know, but if your set on going with stage 3 then go for it, It'll be a bit harder to push the clutch pedal down but you'll get used to it or just have a much stronger left leg

Okay awesome! I am currently looking at running a southbend clutch kit because i have heard nothing but good things about them here is the link.

Do you or anyone else think i should go with the endurance or daily usage one. I plan to bring the car to the track sometime but i love hammering the throttle and racing down the street sometimes. I think i would get more life out of the endurance clutch but i have no clue any opinions?

southbend is a great clutch I currently am running a stage 2 daily now, the stage 2 daily is buttery smooth but when I launch control my car it sticks like glue, if your dailying the car I would def. go with a daily one endurance clutch's are just way to grabby it'll be hard to use on a daily bases

Could you direct me where a good place to buy a kit would be? I have ben looking on Horsepowerfreaks but they only sell the kits without the fly wheel I'm hoping to get a kit with everything so I can do it in once shot. I am currently running my stage 2 tune and thinking saving 300 buy staying stage 2 would be a good choice just need a good place to get the parts!

so DXD Racing and Southbend are the same company so here's a link to the one I believe will fit your's just double check the info also you'll need to select a flywheel and the only option is to select a lightened one, I myself would get the lightened one since it'll result in the car rev'ing faster but you can use your stock flywheel but you will need to get it re-surfaced

any questions ask away btw I have used NGP many times before and there the only shop I would trust with my car

I think I've only let one person drive my car since my clutch install
