My "new" Jetta (2005.5 TDI) supposedly has mirror heaters. We were actually caught out in the snowstorms where it was needed (I try to stay home when it gets that bad, or drive the spouse's car!), but I couldn't tell if they were on or not!

It disappoints me that VW didn't put an indicator to tell if the heater is on or not, and I can't figure out the control switch - how do you turn on the heater? Anyone who knows - I'd love to know. The manual is useless, and the Service Manual doesn't even mention them.[wtf]

They come on automatically at cold temperatures in the spouse's Park Avenue, but there's no indication there either!

you need to do 2 things.
1. Turn on the rear defroster
2. Take the mirror adjustment switch and click it until the dot is facing the front of the car.
They will work until the defroster turns off. I think at 10 minutes.
