Hello, im new to the forum and come with an interesting problem. I'm driving a 91 GLI with the 16V. I start the car and it idles correctly, a little high but its at least smooth. Once i put the car into gear and start moving then put it into neutral while I'm in motion the idle sticks at around 2k and surges up and down from 2k to 2500 until i come to a complete stop then it drops down again to the normal idle. The car will even accelerate while in gear until it gets up near the 2k range. Or if i apply brakes and get it down to almost 1500rpm then put it into neutral while coasting it'll raise the RPM up to the 2k mark. The RPM only raise when the car is moving, you can rev it for days in a parking lot with the hood up and it'll do what its supposed to. Now when i disconnect my ISV's electrical connector that idle problem goes away. It causes a very bumpy low idle but the higher RPM instability is gone. I am starting to feel like I'm chasing my tail here.
