Default 08 Jetta 2.5 EPC Check engine and engine cut off

I just bought my Jetta a few months ago and my wife had acceleration issues a few weeks back but not me. Later on a toad trip no less, I’ve got the cruise control on and the car bucks out of the CC and the EPC light comes on.

The car now will occasionally cut the motor at an idle, then will take around double the turns of the ignition to restart. Also the EPC and Check engine lights come on and off with no noticeable pattern.

Don’t have the actual code numbers but according to the guy at O’Riley, it pulled
    -Ignition distributor speed?
    -Manifold absolute pressure sensor
    -Barometric pressure sensor

He told me to try and reset the power train control module before going on a part buying and replacing spree... not sure how to do that and a YouTube video on it didn’t jump out and grab me.

I’ve read elsewhere on the forum that this will have something to do with the throttle but I’m not clear on a path to diagnose the problem(s) accurately so as to solve them as efficiently as possible.

Much thanks for any and all help.
